Town names various appointees, committee members

Town councillor John Brennan has been appointed the representative for Erin, Guelph-Eramosa and Puslinch on the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) board.

Erin councillors had expressed an interest in having the GRCA representative come from Erin this time, since it had been some time since that individual was from the town (the previous representative was Puslinch’s Brad Whitcombe).

In early December Erin council approved Brennan for a three-year term (plus one year) as the GRCA representative. Puslinch and Guelph-Eramosa councils followed suit shortly thereafter.

As for Erin’s representative on the Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) board, council appointed Mayor Lou Maieron to replace former mayor Rod Finnie.

Erin council also approved several other appointments to groups and committees of council, including the following:

– Maieron, Brennan and Craig Porterfield to the Centre 2000 management board;

– Maieron and councillor Barb Tocher to the fire committee;

– Brennan and councillor Josie Wintersinger to the SSMP committee;

– Brennan to the Balinafad Community Centre committee and the heritage committee;

– Wintersinger to the Erin BIA, the economic development committee, the Erin Cinema board and the Hills of the Headwaters group;

– Tocher to the environmental advisory committee, the Let’s Get Hillsburgh Growing and the Hillsburgh outdoor rink groups and the tennis club;

– councillor Deb Callaghan to the recreation and culture committee, the property standards and vicious dog group, the East Wellington Community Service board and the Community Oriented Policing committee.
