New Mayor Lou Maieron offered a retrospective and personal speech following  a swearing in ceremony last week for Erin councillors.

Maieron said on Dec. 1 that he had the longest shower of his life that morning and reflected on how he got to where he is today.

He noted councillor Barb Tocher told him he’s likely the first individual to serve both as mayor and on county council without first sitting on regular town council.

Maieron said though he’s been successful he never seems to travel the “beaten path.”

He noted he never shies way from hard work and looks forward to the coming term. He thanked everyone for their support.

Tocher noted the work of council is always interesting and she looks forward to working with Maieron and the other councillors on many issues, including the service and settlement master plan and updating the official plan.

Councillor John Brennan said there will be no shortage of challenges for the new council, but residents have a very strong team working on their behalf.

He pledged council will address issues with their “heads held high” and will respect traditions.

Councillors Josie Wintersinger and Deb Callaghan said they look forward to working with their fellow councillors.
