Tow truck driver dies two days after being struck by vehicle

CENTRE WELLINGTON – A tow truck driver has died two days after a being hit by a vehicle while trying to assist another motorist.

Emergency crews responded to Wellington Road 26, between Sideroads 27 and 30 in Centre Wellington, on Dec. 27 at about 9:15pm.

Wellington County OPP officials say a vehicle “struck a pedestrian tow truck operator who was assisting another vehicle.”

A 39-year-old from Richmond Hill was transported to hospital and was pronounced deceased on Dec. 29.

“The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries,” police stated.
