Tito’s Pizza in Arthur to receive $6,500 in township grants
ARTHUR – Tito’s Pizza here will be receiving a $6,494 grant from the Township of Wellington North to improve its lighting, walls, ceiling and façade.
Wellington North council approved the grant during a Feb. 24 council meeting.
It’s part of the municipality’s community improvement program, which provides grants to individuals, businesses and organizations making improvements to their buildings and property, in an effort to support revitalization and redevelopment activities.
Since the program launched in 2011, 183 applicants have applied and been approved for funding.
The total value of improvements made is estimated at over $4 million. Of this amount 88.1 per cent has been covered by the applicants with the remaining 11.9% covered by municipal grants or loans, township officials stated in a report.
Tito’s Pizza is located at 122 George St. in Arthur and is run by Jagruti and Jayesh Patel, who live in Arthur with their two children.
The Patels have owned Tito’s Pizza in Arthur for almost three years and township officials say its success is due to the Patels’ hard work, professionalism and dedication to their customers and community.
The building is between 60 and 70 years old and the last renovations were done in 2010 when Tito’s Pizza opened.
Upcoming renovations supported by the municipal grant include:
– supply and installation of three high-output 150W LED exterior flood/banner lights;
– interior painting (walls): including minor patching and sanding;
– baseboards (paint and installation);
– installation of 16 units of four-foot linear light fixtures, mounting and wiring; and
– new drywall and insulation above the walk-in cooler and installation of spray foam and waterproof thermal barrier preventing future condensation and freezing.
Tito’s Pizza is eligible for a façade improvement grant totalling 50% of the costs up to a maximum of $2,500 as well as a building conversion and improvement grant totalling 50% of the costs up to a maximum of $5,000.
The total cost of the exterior lighting installation and connectivity is $2,989 which means they are eligible for $1,494. The total cost of interior painting, new light fixtures, electrical installation, new drywall and insulation is $21,481, which means they are eligible for the full $5,000.
The township included $35,000 in the 2026 operating budget to support community improvement program applications.
Thus far, including this application, council has approved $18,152 in grant funding for the 2026 program.
