Three charged in break-in, theft at cannabis facility

GUELPH-ERAMOSA – Three people have been charged in connection with a weekend break-in and theft at a legal cannabis facility.

On Sept. 19 at about 12:55am, Wellington County OPP responded to a break and enter in progress at the rural property in Guelph-Eramosa.

Uniform officers, joined by Canine and Emergency Response Team officers, responded to the scene and witnessed suspects running towards a parked vehicle.

Police took them into custody and seized a duffel bag containing fresh marijuana, break-in tools and a BB handgun.

Ricky Edwards, 35, of Kitchener, Carl Thomas Bursey, 45, of Guelph, and Jessica Lee Wilbee, 36, of Guelph, were each charged with:

  • break and enter to commit an indictable offence;
  • theft under $5,000;
  • possession of break-in instruments;
  • possession of property obtained by crime; and
  • failure to comply with a prohibition order.

All three individuals will appear in Guelph court on Oct. 20.
