Three area schools did well in annual In Motion challenge

Local elementary schools again took part in this year’s In Motion push up and sit up challenge.

The annual regional challenge motivates local children to be more active at school for a week as a first step in becoming physically active for the rest of their lives.

The In Motion child and youth committee awarded St. John Catholic School in Guelph (543 per capita) first place for elementary schools, Maryborough Public School (526 per capita) second place, and St. Mary Catholic School Elora (251 per capita) third place.

In Motion is a joint program of Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health and the municipalities of those three areas. It is designed to encourage adults and children to become active and stay physically fit.

Although the In Motion 2011 challenge is over, there are still many resources available to those who want children to be more physically active.  Canada’s revised Physical Activity Guide for Children is available free on-line.
