Thompson guest in winter lecture series

Fred Thompson is the Elora Arts Council’s guest speaker for the third and final art lecture of the winter series.

“We are honoured and delighted to have Fred Thompsons our speaker this coming Sunday, March 13,” organizers stated in a press release.  

Thompson is professor emeritus at the University of Waterloo. He has made extensive study of the relationship between ritual and space.

He has further studied these issues in Japanese culture and western notions of space.

In addition to numerous articles on the subject, Thompson has published the work, Ritual and Space (1988) and a pivotal thesis, A Comparison between Japanese Exterior Space and Western Commonplace (1988).  

Thompson has been a visiting professor at many schools of architecture around the world including Finland, the USA, Sweden, Denmark and Japan.

The lecture will take place on March 13 at 2pm at the Elora Library Community Room – lower level at144 Geddes Street, Elora

Tickets will be available for $10 at the door.

Seating is limited to 50.
