Haunted maze – Families flocked to the haunted corn maze at Ottens’ farm near Moorefield on Oct. 24 for thrills and chills, and to help raise money for the Palmerston and District Hospital. From 5 to 7pm, organizers promised a “gentle scare,” but once darkness fell, they did not hold back on the scream-inducing frights. In addition to the maze, the event included a haunted forest trail complete with a troll under the bridge, games and activities, and terrifying treats like witch’s finger hot dogs. New restaurant takes flight – Majestic Wings and Bar celebrated its grand opening on Oct. 24 with a ribbon cutting, just in time to serve lunch. Located at 480 Smith Street, Unit 7, in the Looney Tooney plaza on the north end of Arthur, the restaurant is a multigenerational undertaking by the Solomon family. Shyanie Solomon told the Community News her family already runs a restaurant in Varney, and travels through Arthur on a regular basis while returning home to Brampton. “We always thought that Arthur would be a great place to open up a restaurant, and here we are,” she said. Tanisha Solomon addressed the crowd following the ribbon cutting. “We are looking forward to putting smiles on people’s faces and putting delicious food in people’s bellies,” she said. The restaurant offers a full menu, with over 100 wing flavours plus seafood, pasta, salads, wraps and more, and is hoping to hire more local employees. The grand opening was hosted by the Arthur Chamber of Commerce and was attended by local politicians.
