Protecting turtles – Students are travelling from Mount Forest, Arthur and Elora schools regularly to use the new tech room at St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School in Fergus. It’s the only room like it in a Wellington Catholic District School Board elementary school, principal Todd Goodwin said, and school officials are using it to strengthen community connections. Students have built tables and chairs for long-term care homes and the school recently partnered with the Wellington Turtle Guardians to build turtle nest protectors – wooden frames that will be placed over snapping turtle nests to protect eggs from predators such as skunks and raccoons.
