PHOTO 3: Despite midday rain, locals made it out to the Palmerston Fair on Aug. 22, with attendance picking up as the afternoon wore on. The fair, which has been taking place for nearly 150 years, ran from Aug. 21 to 23 this year, and the theme was Barn Doors and Farm Chores. Defying gravity – The Monster Madness monster truck show rolled into the Erin Fairgrounds Aug. 22 and 10,000 pound monster trucks producing 1,500 horsepower performed gravity-defying stunts to wow the cheering crowds. Professional motocross riders also demonstrated impressive airborne acrobatic feats for spectators. PHOTOS 3 & 4: These aren’t planes, although the riders certainly look like they are flying. It was all part of the Monster Madness monster truck show at the Erin Fairgrounds Aug. 22.
Gold and silver – PHOTO 1: Despite Mother Nature doing her best to bring the rain, the Ponsonby U13 Gold team brought home Gold in the A Division last weekend. PHOTO 2: The Ponsonby U13 Green team took home Silver in the B Division. “It was a fantastic weekend filled with great softball and sportsmanship,” team officials say. Submitted photos
