Third Annual Belwood Lake Flotilla Celebrates Canada Day

Once again, the Belwood Lake Cottagers’ Association (BLCA) has asked its members to show their patriotism by decorating their boats, docks, cottages and themselves in their best Canadian attire for the annual July 1 flotilla.

The flotilla will be led by the OPP’s Wellington County Marine Unit and will begin its procession on the water from Seventh Street at Noon, taking approximately two hours to make its way around the lake.

If the weather cooperates, dozens of boats are expected to participate.

“This is the third year for the BLCA’s Canada Day Flotilla,” said John Hamilton, Vice President of the BLCA & organizer of the event.

“Last year’s event was very well attended with approximately 40 boats participating.

With Canada Day falling on a Sunday we expect this year to be an even bigger turnout.

Last year it was great to see those who were not in boats, decorated their docks and were eager to greet the flotilla as it made its way around the lake.”
