There is lots to do in Centre Wellington on Family Day

CENTRE WELLINGTON – Looking for some fun activities on Family Day? Look no further than local community centres on Feb. 16 and 17.

Sportsplex

On Feb. 16 the Fergus Scottish Festival will be holding its first annual Kilt Skate event. Skaters are invited to don their kilts and tartans and enjoy a fun hour of free skating from 4:30 to 5:30pm at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.

There will be pipes and drums playing, hot chocolate and shortbread available and chances to win passes to the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games in August.

There are also a number of free activities taking place at the sportsplex on Feb. 17.

– 11am to 1pm: the VanGrootheest Team Centre 21 – Excalibur  Realty is sponsoring a free public skate;

– 1 to 2pm: Fergus Opti-Mrs sponsoring a free family swim;

– 2 to 3:55pm: Parker Hannifin is sponsoring the first 40 children and youth for the public swim;

– 2:30 to 3pm: Sarah Gray-Schleen is sponsoring free kids zumba;

– 3 to 5pm: The Farquharson Team Re/Max is sponsoring a free public skate; and

– 3:30 to 5:30pm: Centre Wellington Minor Lacrosse is offering a free “Come Try Lacrosse” event.

Elora Community Centre

From 2 to 3pm Canadian Tire will be sponsoring a free public skate.
