Terri Clark among country performers in Clifford concert this June

The sounds of country music will fill the air here this June.

On June 19, the Clifford arena and ball fields will be the site of possibly the largest country music concert ever held in the area.

On Dec. 16, councillors supported a staff recommendation to rent the site to The Concert Factory to hold an outdoor music concert with several well-known country music artists, including Terri Clark, George Canyon, Johnny Reid, Doc Walker and Dean Brody.

Minto will be responsible for providing the bar services through its municipal alcohol licence.

Mayor David Anderson noted, “With the success of the recent Johnny Reid concert in Palmerston organized by this promoter, council supported entering into an agreement to rent the site in Clifford. Done properly, an event of this scale will bring inestimable economic benefits to the Town of Minto and surrounding areas.”

With good weather, all of the artists attending, and an expected crowd of possibly 10,000 people, Clifford will be active that weekend.

Minto officials anticipate all the local service clubs and organizations will be involved in some way.

Minto’s Director of Recreation Dave Stonley said, “The Town will work with the community to ensure the benefits of holding the concert at the site will outweigh any issues.  Meetings with the promoter, the OPP and local groups have begun.”
