Telecommunications firm supports festival

The village’s newest festival, Sensational Elora – A Festival of the Senses has won the hearts of a number of corporate sponsors.

On July 14, Pat Smith, of Wightman Telecom, presented Sensational Elora committee member Elsa Mann with a cheque for $2001.

“We are just thrilled with the response we’ve received,” said Mann, “Community minded companies such as Wightman Telecom were so supportive of the idea right away. They are a family company and really appreciate seeing community groups work together to create something so special …. like this new festival.”

Wightman Telecom, located in Clifford, has been offering its services in the Elora and Fergus communities for less than a year, but organizers of the festival feel they are making a great contribution to the community already, not only with the services they offer, but with the support they have shown for initiatives such as Sensational Elora.

“We really couldn’t pull off this size of a festival without contributions from companies like Wightman Telecom,” added Mann. “We’ll be able to promote all our October events to so many more people, because of their help.”

Sensational Elora runs from Oct. 2 to 13 and hosts a variety of events organized by locals: SlowFood Elora, the Elora Cataract Trailway, In Motion activities, the Elora Empty Bowls Project in support of the Centre Wellington Food Bank, Harvest Home, the Elora Fergus Studio Tour, numerous events at the Elora Centre for the Arts, and the Film on a Plate food and movie events are just a few of the groups and activities under the Sensational Elora umbrella.
