Ontario consumers will be facing an increase in their electricity bills in the coming years.
Eliminating consumption waste and increasing efficiency are key factors in keeping bills low. One practical solution directed at addressing these issues is the Take Charge! service offered by the Elora Environment Centre.
The project focuses on giving homeowners knowledge and opportunities to reduce the amount of electricity they use and ensure their appliances and fixtures are using electricity efficiently. A Take Charge service call provides house specific data and realistic options for homeowners to make changes to their fixtures, appliances, and/or energy use habits in order to save money.
A Take Charge! energy professional shows homeowners room by room where in their home they are using electricity and provides realistic recommendations to decrease electricity bills.
Local resident Alex Watts, a recent customer, had this to say about the program: “The Take Charge! visit was a great learning experience. I enjoyed learning about electricity and how to take advantage of time-of-use practices to lower my bills. I would recommend this program to my friends and family.”
Take Charge! was developed by the Elora Environment Centre in partnership with the Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy at the University of Waterloo and Kitchener-Waterloo’s REEP Green Solutions. With funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the generous support of Centre Wellington Hydro, Take Charge! has come to Centre Wellington.
Take Charge! gives you real data and realistic options so you can take charge of your bills.
