Take a Kid Fishing runs on May 10

The Grand River Conservation Authority and a host of sponsors are again presenting the Shimano Take a Kid Fishing Day at the park here.

Pro anglers will help to answer kids questions and offer them a variety of events that will keep them busy in morning and afternoon sessions, all of which include a free barbecue lunch.

There are limited spaces, so registration in advance is necessary. When children register they can choose six activities from:

– kids casting competition;

– learn about fishing from a biologist;

– rig lures and tie knots;

– fish for rainbow trout;

– archery introduction;

– pro fishing tips and tricks;

– tying a fly; and

– a bait and lure workshop.

All stations will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

The morning session starts with signing in from 8:30 to 9:30am and runs to noon, with lunch. The afternoon session starts with lunch and runs to 4pm. All participants must be supervised by a parent or guardian.

While registration is free, the park admission fee of $4.25 for adults and $2.50 for kids applies.
