The Aberfoyle Farmers’ Market will host the launch of a new beer by Wellington Brewery: Rhubarb Saison on June 28.

The craft beer is made with local ingredients from growers working with the farmers’ market and will be available for tasting.

This crisp and refreshing beer has a mild wheat body with spicy notes of clove and black pepper from the farmhouse style yeast.

The rhubarb was hand-picked by local growers. The rhubarb gives a slightly sour and tart finish.

Vendors from farmers markets in Guelph and Wellington County all contributed more than 200 pounds of rhubarb to the project.

Growers include Matthew Bulmer (Corwhin Hills Farm), Helge Knudsen (Guelph Farmers Market) and Luke Hartung, (Minto Farmers’ Market).

Market hours are 8am to 1pm, but the beer tastings this weekend are from 11am to 1pm.
