To Be Determined Theatre Co. is thrilled to be producing John F. Ross Secondary School’s Senior Acting and Technical Theatre Program’s production of A Permanent Solution….
Written by Canadian playwright Tom Slater, this play delves into the issues of depression and suicide in teens – topics that are frequently ignored due to fear or stigma. Instead, this youth acted production approaches these subjects head on.
“There are many reasons youth attempt suicide. Most do not want to die. When the pressures become unbearable, suicide may seem like the only solution. Some youth will seek help. Others will not. Understanding the issues youth face is an important step in preventing suicidal deaths”. at News release from the Suicide Awareness Council of Wellington Dufferin stated.
A Permanent Solution… follows the lives of a group of friends in high school dealing with the issues of depression and suicide.
This hour-long play is poignant, powerful, at times humourous, and always enlightening – it speaks honestly about today’s youth. The theatrical production is touring secondary schools across Wellington and Dufferin counties this spring.
The Suicide Awareness Council of Wellington Dufferin has partnered with the H.O.P.E. committee to bring this powerful performance to Mount Forest May 30 at 7pm at Wellington Heights Secondary School, 406 Sligo Rd.
The special public showing has been made possible from the financial support of the Marg Starzynski AD VOX Kids’ Fund. There is no admission fee.
Information displays will also be set up to provide materials about community resources available to help.
