Students hold flag raising ceremony
The staff and students of St. John Catholic School in Arthur had a special flag raising ceremony here recently in front of the school.
The event was attended by Perth-Wellington MPP, Randy Pettapiece and superintendent of education of Wellington Catholic District School Board Larry Clifford.
The staff, students and school choir gathered outside of the school where they heard principal David Mencfeld, share some facts about the province’s flag.
Pettapiece spoke with the students and presented the school with a new Ontario flag, which was raised during the ceremony, and Ontario pins for each of the students.
Clifford shared his thoughts on the importance of showing respect for the province and country when singing the national anthem.
He also congratulated the school’s choir and the school community for their participation.
