Springsteen concert video to be shown at fundraiser for local residents participating in Ride to Conquer Cancer

Elora residents Kathy Pollock and Deb DeRoode-Limoges have partnered with the Gorge Cinema and the Elora Brewing Company to host a fun and musically entertaining event.

Bruce Springsteen – Live in Barcelona was the first complete Springsteen concert officially released on DVD.

“It’s an amazing performance from 2002, in front of what has to be one of the most enthusiastic crowds. Springsteen is on fire throughout this colorful night in Barcelona. This concert has it all, from the heart wrenching ballads of Empty Sky and Your Missing to moments of pure joy like Waiting on a Sunny Day, Mary’s Place and Ramrod,” organizers state.

Both Pollock and DeRoode-Limoges have been touched by Cancer. Recently, Pollock lost her younger sister to the disease. This event is in support of The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer, benefitting the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. It is a two-day cycling event, held on June 13 to 14, covering 225 kilometres from Toronto to Niagara Falls. The ride is a symbolic journey and is dedicated to Pollock’s sister Mary-Sue Sochan. Each participant has to raise $2,500 and all proceeds from this event will go directly to the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, which is one of the top cancer research centres in the world.

A viewing of Bruce Springsteen – Live in Barcelona will be held at the Gorge Cinema on May 2, from 5 to 8pm. Doors open at 4pm. Tickets are $15. The show is a licensed event and beer, wine and food will be available.

Tickets are on sale now and will be available at the Wreckless Eric Coffee Shop, Pollock Pools and the Gorge Cinema.

Beer has been donated by the Elora Brewing Company, a new craft brewery which is set to open in Elora in Spring 2015.

Anyone unable to attend may make a donation on-line by going to www.conquercancer.ca and entering either participant’s name, Kathryn Pollock or Deb DeRoode.
