GUELPH – On Jan. 25 at about 6:15pm, a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on the Hanlon Exressway here.

Police say the officer observed a grey vehicle that appeared to be travelling above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was allegedly clocked on radar at about 130km/h in an 80km/h zone.

“During the investigation, the officer informed the driver that their vehicle would be impounded ... and offered the driver several forms of transportation – however they refused,” police stated in a press release.

“The driver was eventually placed under arrest when they refused to exit their vehicle when a tow truck arrived.”

Antony Chigozie Ojinkeya, 35, of Hamilton, was charged with stunt driving (excess speed), speeding and obstructing a peace office in a lawful seizure. He is to appear in Guelph court on March 5.

The vehicle and the driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days.
