Special Olympics for Wellington students
A track and field event will be held for developmentally-challenged students in the Wellington Catholic, and Upper Grand District School Boards May 21.
The event will include students enrolled in elementary and secondary schools across the region and take place at St. James High School, 57 Victoria Rd. N., Guelph from 10am to 2pm. Opening ceremonies will begin at 10am.
Students involved set goals, develop skills and improve their overall fitness by participating in the event.
They will work with peer coaches who help them to prepare to compete and provide them with social contacts within their home schools.
The focus of the day is on friendly competition and companionship, making the event a truly special sporting event.
