Special Needs Soccer Festival this weekend

The FEDS Special Needs Soccer Festival is on July 9 from 12 to 4pm at Victoria Park in Fergus.

The annual event brings together players with some type of physical and/or developmental disability to play soccer and have fun.

About 100 players are to participate from the local club, Halton Hills and Kitchener.

Not only will there be soccer games, but the festival will also have numerous other events for the public to enjoy.

Event highlights include:

- Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott, Ontario Soccer Association president Ron Smale and Mayor Kelly Linton will be at the event;

- the Fergus Pipe Band will lead the players into the field;

- face painting, magician and photo booth;

- community tent with game prizes;

- live music by David Cavan Fraser; and

- food and beverages will be available - and free cake.

The whole event is free for everyone to come out and enjoy.
