Small-scale farmers are invited to celebrate the International Year of Soils by growing their knowledge on how to protect their farm’s most precious resource.

Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is offering a free workshop for small-scale farmers to learn how to protect and improve their soil’s health on April 11 from 2 to 5pm at Whole Village in Caledon.

Guest speaker Ken Laing, from Orchard Hill Farm, will discuss topics such as soil microbes, balancing plant nutrients and using organic soil amendments. This is the first time CVC is offering a workshop specifically for small-scale farmers but all rural landowners are welcome. Register at www.creditvalleyca.ca/events. For more information call 1-800-668-5557 ext. 457 or email slem@creditvalleyca.ca.
