Spring is here and finally daffodils and tulips are showing their colours.

Last year, in celebration of the group’s 65th anniversary, the Harriston and District Horticultural Society created a new initiative - the “Garden of the Month.” From June to October the society awarded three exceptional gardens each month with an attractive sign to acknowledge the owner’s efforts.

“This program was so well received that we have decided to continue it this year, with a little twist.  The month of July will be specifically for ‘Backyard Treasurers,’” officials state.

“Once again society member and graphic artist Imgard Kuersten-Kirkorian has designed a sign to acknowledge a beautiful hidden backyard. So we really need neighbours, friends and relatives to nominate these hidden gems.”

Nominations can be made by getting in touch with society president Jean Anderson at jeanurse1@gmail.com or 519-509-5914 or Sue Bridge at george.sue.bridge@gmail.com or 519-323-1642.

“We still also need your help in the other months over the summer in nominating those gardens that make you say ‘Wow!’ Keep your eyes open,” the society urges.
