Smith, Frederick James; Peacefully on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus with his family by his side. Fred Smith of Fergus in his 71st year, beloved husband of Iris Smith (Turner). Loving father of Darlene (Paul) Martin of Fergus and Cindy Csuhai of Fergus. Dearly loved grandfather of Aydan and Tilley. Dear brother-in-law of Eleanor Huffman, Walter Turner (Gwen), Milton Turner (Arlene), Lynne Thompson (Jim), Hugh Turner (Marion), Vicky Schmidt (Elmer) and Leonard Ferrier. Fred is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews and other family. Also his birth mother Doreen Pascarella and family. Pre-deceased by his parents Thomas and Elsie Smith and sister-in-law Gail Ferrier. The family received their friends at the GRAHAM A. GIDDY FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 280 ST. DAVID ST. S. FERGUS from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Sunday, January 2, 2011. Funeral service was held in the chapel on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 2pm. Interment Belsyde Cemetery, Fergus.
