Skyline matching donations to arts centre until Dec. 31

ELORA – From now until Dec. 31, every dollar donated to the Elora Centre for the Arts’ outreach programs will be matched by Skyline, up to $10,000, thereby doubling support for initiatives that foster creativity, connection and community well-being.

“We’re beyond thrilled that Skyline has made this generous commitment for a second year in a row,” said art centre executive director Lianne Carter.

While we’ve had a successful year of fundraising for our new addition, our outreach programs still need the community’s support to continue and reach those who need them most.”

Outreach programs supported by this campaign include:

– Bursary Program for Kids, a new financial assistance program to help ensure every child has access to the arts, covering 50 to 100 per cent of fees for workshops, classes and camps;

– Supportive Arts, art and music sessions held three times a week for adults with disabilities in a welcoming, inclusive space, where they can express themselves, make new friends and feel a genuine sense of belonging;

–Community Connections Through Art, a school-based outreach program that brings free arts experiences to youth with disabilities building self-esteem, nurturing well-being and helping students feel more connected to their community; and

 – Artful Ageing, a new outreach program that brings free art-making sessions directly to seniors in retirement living and long-term care, sparking joy and connection while giving residents a chance to share memories, tell stories and feel seen. In addition, a new on-site outreach program for seniors will be starting at the arts centre in the new year.

 “After seeing the impact of last year’s matching campaign, we knew we wanted to do it again,” said Skyline cofounder and chief sustainability officer R. Jason Ashdown.

“We’re proud to match donations and hope it encourages others to give as well.”

Carter said participation in the arts has the power to change lives.

“From improving self-esteem and mental health to fostering a profound sense of belonging, our outreach programs have become a lifeline for so many in our community, and we’re deeply grateful to Skyline for their incredible support.”

“To have your gift matched by Skyline, visit ecfta.ca/donate before Dec. 31,” officials encourage. “You can also donate by email (donations@ecfta.ca), by phone (519-846-9698) or in person.”
