FERGUS – Linamar Corporation’s Skyjack division has teamed up with Habitat for Humanity Guelph Wellington on its new affordable housing construction project in Fergus.
This project is making a positive and lasting impact in the community and creates much needed affordable housing options in the region of Skyjack’s headquarters, company officials stated in a press release.
On Aug. 27 and 28, a group of Skyjack staff members joined the Habitat for Humanity Build Days on-site at the new Garafraxa Village housing development to offer their skills and give local families in need a hand up.
“Skyjack employs over 1,500 people within the Guelph-Wellington region. We’re proud of where we come from and we’re happy to help our local community help each other,” stated Skyjack’s vice president of marketing Malcolm Early, in the release.
Garafraxa Village creates a new affordable community in Fergus that features three blocks of three-story stacked townhouses that will support families, seniors and people with special needs.
Those that fit the criteria of Habitat for Humanity’s affordable home ownership program can benefit from flexible downpayments and mortgage payments geared to income, officials say.
