Skoufis makes history with 12th consecutive gold at Canadian Open

GUELPH  – Local martial artist and lifelong area resident, Nathan Skoufis, captured Gold at the Canadian Open Martial Arts Championships held this past weekend in Kitchener, Ontario—marking a record-breaking 12th consecutive year claiming the title.

The event drew top-tier competitors from across North America, representing a wide range of disciplines including Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Kickboxing, Boxing, Kung Fu, and more.

Skoufis secured first place in the men’s adult black belt division, advancing to the Overall Grand Championship, where champions from various weight classes and age groups competed head-to-head.

Emerging victorious once again, Skoufis was crowned the Men’s Black Belt Overall Grand Champion, as the top overall competitor across all weight divisions and age categories at the event.

This win not only extended Skoufis’ championship streak, but also officially set a new martial arts record at the Canadian Open—a testament to his dedication, discipline, and elite-level skill.

A 6th Degree Black Belt, Member of Team Canada, and Multiple-Time World Champion, Skoufis began his martial arts journey at the age of four.

Today, he continues to inspire the next generation of martial artists as both a competitor and mentor in the community.
