Shelldale Family Gateway golf tournament on Sept. 17

GUELPH – Shelldale Family Gateway is set to tee off on its third annual golf tournament on Sept. 17 at the Ariss Valley Golf and Country Club.

The $140 fee includes lunch at the clubhouse, nine holes of golf, and a golf cart, all while supporting Shelldale, a local nonprofit.

Shelldale Family Gateway (SFG) supports children and youth in the Onward Willow community in Guelph, but relies entirely on fundraising.

Some 600 children were able to benefit from SFG programs last year, including breakfast club, afterschool programs, teen program, summer camp, March Break camp and so much more.

The tournament kicks off at noon, with registration starting at 11:30am.

Before heading out to the greens, teams will gather at the clubhouse for a BBQ lunch and a short presentation about Shelldale Family Gateway highlighting how the organization is working to support children and youth in the neighbourhood.

Throughout the day, participants can purchase 50/50 tickets and enter a raffle draw with exciting prizes up for grabs and all proceeds going toward Shelldale’s vital work.

Winners will be announced during the closing remarks.

This year, SFG has partnered with Robinson Motors Company for the first time.

That means that a hole-in-one could win participants a brand-new car.

“Without generous donations from community members and sponsors, these children would have been without access to the enriching programs and opportunities,” officials stated.

“We are especially grateful to Skyline Group of Companies, our patron of the arts sponsor,” officials state in a press release.

“Every dollar that you spend goes to an incredible day of golf and food at the Ariss Country Club and more importantly, it helps empower children and youth in our community,” officials stated.
