NORTH PERTH – Minto firefighters responded to a fire which destroyed a drive shed on Line 89 in North Perth on Jan. 26.

Minto Fire was dispatched to a drive shed fire just before 1pm.

Minto Fire deputy chief Callise Loos said the fire started accidently after a tractor’s block heater was plugged in.

“The fire was contained to the shed, all exposures were protected,” Loos stated.

Firefighters from Minto’s Harriston and Palmerston stations, as well as North Perth (Listowel) and Mapleton (Moorefield and Drayton) all assisted on the call.

There were approximately 30 firefighters at the scene. The fire was prevented from spreading to other buildings on the property.

No injuries

Loos reports there were no injuries to any of the occupants or the firefighters.

“Minto Fire wishes to thank all neighbouring departments for their quick response and effort during extreme cold conditions,” the deputy chief stated.
