Shafer, Paul Edward (Cookie); Suddenly at his home in Hanover on November 30, 2008 with “his honey” by his side. Paul died in his 63rd year. He was born and raised in Elora, the son of Wm. L. Shafer and Jean Shafer (Allan). Paul was a mechanic by trade, owned Paul’s radiation in Elmira, worked for Bell Canada and currently worked for Wellington County at the Harriston and Rothsay Landfill sites. He was, in 1988, the youngest elected councillor in Pilkington Township. Anyone who ever met Paul was not likely to forget him. He was predeceased by his son, Jimmy. He is survived by “his honey” Connie; his mother-in-law Aileen; his chosen family Vicki Hafner, Wesley and Ryan Law and Nicolas Shafer; his sisters Helen Anderson, Dianne Miller and Joan Allan; his brother John Shafer and brother-in-law Pat Shafer. Cremation has taken place and according to Paul’s wishes, there will be no service. Memorial donations to the charity of ones’ choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
