Sensational Elora Soup Off and Empty Bowls event set for this weekend

The Sensational Soup Off and Empty Bowls event offers a fun, affordable, work-free way to celebrate Thanksgiving with meaning.

On Thanksgiving Monday (Oct. 13) everyone is invited to join the Sensational Soup Off and Empty Bowls at Aboyne Hall at the Wellington County Museum and Archives.

Participants can enjoy delicious soups in relaxed and fun environment,  without the work of cooking, organizers state.

Bisques, broths, chowders and potages will be created by professionals, amateurs and youths, all vying for the honour of best in their category.

The emphasis is on local foods and participants get to vote for their favourites.  

Serving will be from 1pm to 3pm at Aboyne Hall.

Prices are $15 per adult, $5 per child or just $35 per family.

Proceeds are donated to the Sensational Elora’s  core initiatives in the fight for good food and nutrition through the Centre Wellington Food Bank and high school breakfast program.

Since 2008 the annual Soup Off and Empty Bowls event has raised more than $70,000 for the food bank and school breakfast program.

Empty Bowls are hand-crafted pieces that will be on sale at the Soup Off.  All have been created and donated by local potters and artisans.  

In addition a number of the talented musicians who make up the Acoustic Café will be on hand providing music to add to the joy of the day.
