Section of Charles Street in Arthur to be closed for construction

ARTHUR – A portion of Charles Street East here will be closed for about 12 days starting Monday.

The Township of Wellington North reported Aug. 20 that ongoing reconstruction of Georgina Street between Frederick Street East and Charles Street East in Arthur will require temporary closure of Charles Street East between George Street and Isabella Street East from 7am on Aug. 24 to 5pm on Sept. 4.

The affected section of Charles Street East will be closed to through traffic. Local access, including access to driveways, will be interrupted at various times during this temporary closure, the township states in a public notice.

Georgina Street between Frederick Street East and Charles Street East, Arthur will continue to remain closed to through traffic while construction on the road continues. Local access including access to driveways will be interrupted at various times. It is expected that the intersection with Frederick Street East will remain open.

Construction on the project began July 13. Earlier the township had estimated that it would be completed by the end of August.
