The Second Annual Hodgie Lobsterfest here raised another $4,079 for the Canadian Cancer Society.

The event involved an online campaign, silent auction, and the Lobsterfest itself.

Organizers received many donations for the silent auction from local businesses such as Doyle Transportation, Fraberts, I Love Chocolate!, Macadi Jewelry in Elora, Borealis Grille in Guelph, local artist Barry McCarthy, St Joseph Health Centre Foundation Guelph AND Adidas, as well as donations from numerous private individuals.

Mark Vandersluis said, “This event is held in honour of my wife’s late father Gregg Hodges, who’s battle with cancer ended three years ago, as well as my mother Toos Vandersluis, who’s battle with cancer ended two years ago.  We also honour our late Uncle Larry Williamson, who’s battle ended in November of 2012.”

He added, “I am sure that everyone has a story or family member affected by cancer, and we would like to see the number of people who win their battles outnumber the losses.”
