Sculpture Project to offer student bursary

The Elora Sculpture Project is now seeking submissions from artists for its annual outdoor exhibition that will run from May to October.

The chosen sculptures will be installed at sites in downtown Elora that allow the public to enjoy these works while strolling though the village.

For 2016 a bursary of $500 will be offered to one applicant who is a full-time, post-secondary student in fine arts, crafts, architecture, design or related trades.

“In the past five years we have received very few submissions from students and other young artists,” said committee chair David Cross in a press release.

“We welcome applicants at any stage of their artistic endeavours and we felt that offering this award could offset the costs of creating their works and encourage them to apply. For our sponsors, this is a wonderful way to directly support the individual artist and perhaps boost their career.”

In 2015 several works were sold and two others will be moved to other venues for continued display. All sales proceeds go directly to the artists.

Full entry details and requirements are available at www.elora.info or by emailing dscross@sympatico.ca.

Entries must be received by Feb. 1.
