Scottish Festival to receive $15,000 in funding

Michael Chong, Member of Parliament for Wellington-Halton Hills, announced last week that the federal government will provide $15,000 in funding to support the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games.

This money comes from the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage Program, which helps local communities celebrate their heritage, past and present.

The program provides funds to support, through festivals and other events, local artists in their community and local groups in commemorate their local history and heritage.

Rich history

“For 70 years, the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games has brought together the community in one of Canada’s largest celebrations of Scottish culture,” said Chong.

“I’m delighted to see the federal government’s ongoing support for the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games.”

Every summer, the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games provides visitors with performances in piping, drumming, highland dance and traditional Celtic music.
