SCHMIDT, Grete - Margareta “Grete” Maria Schmidt, of Southgate Township, passed away at the Louise Marshall Hospital on Wednesday, September 20th, 2017 in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late Norbert Schmidt who predeceased her in 2010. Loving mother of Werner Schmidt and his wife Maxine of Southgate Township and Rosemary Schmidt of Mississauga. Dear Oma of Katie Soehner and her husband Cory of Kitchener, Lisa MacDonald and her husband Jeremy of London and Adam Schmidt and his friend Erin Matte of Woodstock. Great-Oma of Avery and Parker MacDonald. Grete is also survived by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brothers Walter, Lorenz and Herbert Stachelscheid and by her infant sister Therese. Friends called at the England Funeral Home, Mount Forest on Friday, September 22nd, from 2 – 4 and 7 - 9 p.m., where a Prayer Vigil was held at 6:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary of the Purification Catholic Church, Mount Forest on Saturday, September 23rd at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mount Forest. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
