Satellite station discussion deferred

Discussion on a proposed satellite fire station for the Puslinch Fire Department has been deferred.

The issue came up briefly on Sept. 19 but deferred on the basis of new information anticipated at the committee meeting the following week.

A motion made at the Aug. 13 fire committee meeting included a motion to accept a recommendation from RLB Chartered Accountants regarding an analysis of the Puslinch Fire and Rescue Satellite Station proposal.

That report suggested building a satellite station was a better option than expanding the existing contract with the Cambridge Fire Department.

The report also recommended further investigation into the proposal to create a satellite fire station in the western end of Puslinch Township.

Councillor Susan Fielding noted that what was in the package was the motion from the fire committee meeting, but that another such committee meeting was being held on Sept. 24.

“I believe there will be further discussions and some new ideas which deputy chief Goode would like to bring forward.”

As a result, Fielding asked that the item be deferred “since there is going to be a lot more discussion.”
