Safe Kids day coming to Drayton May 24

DRAYTON – Safe Communities is hosting a Safe Kids Day in the municipal parking lot in Drayton on May 24.

“Last year was quite successful,” councillor Marlene Ottens said during a council meeting on April 8.

It was sort of an impulse of little throw together things and we had a lot of people coming.”

This year organizers expect the event to be bigger and better, with firefighters, police officers, an ambulance, a car seat clinic and farm safety information.

“All the kids who attend and give a safety tip get a coupon for à la mode ice cream,” Ottens said.

“Eventually the sun will shine and the snow will go away” she laughed, wishing for good weather on the day of the event.

It will take place from 11am to 2pm at the municipal parking lot across the road from the Drayton Fire Hall, and everyone is invited.
