RUNNALLS, Loretta M. “Lori”
October 11, 1933 - January 23, 2026
A cherished matriarch and beacon of love, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, at the age of 92 in Fergus. She was born on October 11, 1933, in Toronto to parents Wilfred and Gladys Manion. Lori’s journey began as a switchboard operator at Bell when she was just 16 years old. Her charm and grace caught the eye of many, and she was honored to serve as a model in a Bell commercial. Over the years, she transitioned through various roles, ultimately retiring as a beloved receptionist at Burlington Carpet. It was in 1988, the year of her retirement, that she met and married Melvin “Mel” Runnalls, embarking on a new chapter filled with love and companionship. Together, Lori and Mel blended their families into one, creating a loving tapestry that included her children, Steve (Christine), the late Shari, Paula (Mike), Debra (Rob) and Jeff; grandchildren Alexandra (Jose), Sergio, Ashleigh (Joe), Cameron (Tiffany), Nicole, and the late Kyle; and great-grandchild Oliver, with another blessing on the way. Lori’s family was the cornerstone of her world. Lori was a sister to Greg (Helen), late Paul (late Diane) and sister-in-law to Doris (late Leif) and Phyllis (Rick). Lori’s absence will be felt by her many nieces, nephews, and extended family, all of whom she adored. Lori’s interests were as vibrant as her personality. An avid reader, she particularly enjoyed the works of Danielle Steel. Her creativity knew no bounds, as she was incredibly crafty and had an exceptional talent for home decoration. Lori’s flair for floral arrangements was well-known, and she took great pleasure in creating beautiful displays for her home, friends, and on a professional level. As the matriarch of her family, Lori always put her loved ones first. Her dedication to her community was equally strong. She was a proud and active member of the Fergus Legion for over 25 years and served diligently as a long-time secretary at the Victoria Park Senior Centre. Her volunteer work was a reflection of her generous spirit and her belief in giving back. As expressions of sympathy, Lori’s family would appreciate donations to Groves Memorial Community Hospital. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Lori’s life will be held at the Riverside Events Centre (Fergus Royal Canadian Legion) at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Graham A.
