Royals seek name for new mascot
GUELPH – The Guelph Royals are asking the public to name their new mascot.
The contest opened July 17 and closes Aug. 8. The winner gets four season passes for 2027, a Royals jersey and the chance to throw a ceremonial first pitch with the new mascot at Hastings Stadium.
The mascot is a lion the team says is “made of memories” from more than a century of games at Exhibition Park. Its origin story traces to the early 1900s, when a girl saw a caged lion at a Barnum and Bailey Circus at the park and wished it could be free to play at the park with all.
