An Ontario Municipal Board prehearing on the proposed Roszell Road gravel pit will be held on Sept. 17 at 10:30am in the Puslinch council chamber.

The township received notice last month from Toronto law firm Thomson, Rogers, which is representing proponent Preston Sand and Gravel Company Limited.

Preston is seeking approval of a zoning bylaw to permit gravel extraction on a 60 acre, triangular-shaped piece of land east of the Speed River and west of Roszell Road.

It has filed an appeal with the OMB due to “council’s refusal or neglect to enact” the bylaw amendment to allow the aggregate extraction.

Councillors have echoed the concerns of nearby residents, many of whom are fearful of the affects of the pit - and the 120 to 300 on the Concession Road 4 route every day - will have on their way of life.
