The Harriston and District Horticultural Society’s June meeting was about roses.

Roland Craig of Cambridge showed slides of his 50 roses and described each name.

“Cleopatra was the first to bathe in rose petals,” he noted.

Using peroxide in the spring will kill diseases in the root system said Craig.

He said “If you freeze rose slips for eight months the seeds will grow.”

Draws were made for door prizes and refreshments were enjoyed to finish the evening.
