Rolfe, George Edward-C.D. BSA 49; Peacefully at the Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus on Friday, January 14, 2011. George Rolfe, beloved husband of Joan (nee:Agnew). Cherished father of Thomas of Toronto, Jane of Los Angeles, California and John (Karen) of Shrewsbury U.K. Adored grandfather of Anthony, Caitlan, Meghan, Michael, Madeline and Evan. Survived by two sisters Peggy Smith of Medicine Hat Alberta and Joan Thompson of Burlington, Ontario. George was a former teacher and principal and was a great supporter of the community. He was a dedicated member of Melville United Church where he was a member of the Session and the Board of Managers, Life Member and Past Master of Mercer Masonic Lodge – member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Fergus and named a Paul Harris Fellow, Past President of the Fergus Cancer Society. Besides being a keen sports fan, George enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and reading. He leaves behind a legacy of honour, family values and integrity. “Teaching is the profession that creates all others”. The family received their friends at the GRAHAM A. GIDDY FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 280 ST. DAVID ST. S. FERGUS on Monday, January 17 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Masonic Service was held at the funeral home on Monday, January 17, 2011 at 6:45pm. A complete funeral service was held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 2pm.
