Rogers to install 100-metre-tall wireless telecommunications tower near hamlet
Wellington North Township council is endorsing a request of Rogers Communications to install a wireless communications tower.
The site is 9037 Highway 6, south of Kenilworth.The property is owned by Mark Doust. The item was discussed at council on April 4.
Information sent by the company stated the site is well suited, and the tower should have minimal impact on surrounding land use.
The letter, drafted by Sean Galbraith on behalf of the company, stated, “The selection of a wireless communications site works similarly to fitting a piece into a puzzle. In this case, the puzzle is a complex radio network, situated in a rural setting.”
Galbraith added that due to subscriber feedback, the company has become aware of deficiencies in the area near Kenilworth.
The 100 metre guy tower would be set back about 340 metres from Highway 6.
While there is separation from adjacent properties, a new access road will be required.
The tower will be used in a network signal for 3.5G high-speed wireless, voice, and data communications.
There was little discussion at council before it endorsed the recommendation.
