Students of grade 8 at the local public school here, under direction of  Gillian Siegwart attended the Remembrance Day Service held at the Rockwood cenotaph.

The service commenced with the signing of O Canada followed by The Last Post and lowering of the flags. Reveille saw the raising of the flags once again.

Then, students came forward with a placard with a name of one of the fallen that appears on the cenotaph. Each student read out the name of the soldier they represent.

Two students read In Flander’s Fields, followed by Lindsay Christopher, a student who wrote a poem entitled Risking their lives to Fight for You.

Bert Zonnenveld read a story presenting the reality that it was the veterans who “give”the opportunity to learn.

This is the second year  in Rockwood for what is hoped to be a long history of participation by the students.
