A fire at a home on Parkinson Drive in Rockwood caused about $500,000 worth of damage on April 18.

“(The) fire started in the garage ... but it extended to the house,” Rockwood deputy fire chief Jim Petrik said.

He added the fire didn’t “appear suspicious” and, “It looks like the house might be a loss, but it’s still standing.”

The fire call came in at noon on Tuesday and about 15 firefighters from the Rockwood and Puslinch fire stations responded to the call. They had the fire knocked down in about 30 minutes and remained on scene into the afternoon looking for hotspots.

No other structures were damaged but Petrik said one firefighter was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
