Rockwood FC to lease space

BRUCEDALE – Guelph-Eramosa Township will lease space at the Rockmosa Community Centre to Rockwood FC, enabling the club to expand and be accessible to the public.

The non-profit soccer association will pay lower than commercial rates for the use of several basement rooms – $1,000 for the first year (starting Oct. 1), $1,500 for the second year and $2,000 for the third.

It will provide space for an office, board meetings, training of coaches and officials, registration and the storage of files and equipment.

“What they’re looking for is a place to consolidate their operation,” said Milne. “It will be helpful for tournaments.”

The space has been vacant since a daycare moved out, and the township had not found a commercial tenant.

With new fields being developed at Rockmosa Park, the club hopes to expand into the tournament market.

“They are really trying to ramp this up and make it more professional,” said Mayor Chris White. “If we end up getting tournaments, you’re driving hundreds of people into Rockwood, which hopefully is good for the restaurants and shops.”
