Rockwood FC U10 Girls Select  met the Stratford Strikers June 17.
Having met Stratford earlier in the season, the girls were expecting strong competition but were extra motivated to win for coach Rimmer, who was out to coach them on his birthday.
A months’ coaching, including last weekend’s session on shielding paid off well as Rockwood battled Stratford and held it own.  The final score was 3-1, Stratford, with Rockwood’s goal scored by Christina Timmerman with assistance from the entire forward line.
Heartbreakingly close shots by Abbey Rimmer and Paige Peacock would have tied the score. Outstanding defence was provided Jasmine Fox, Brooke Daamen and Riley Patterson.  Kiera Murison made 14 saves with incredibly aggressive goaltending and a number of three-quarter field length goal kicks.
This team has yet to lose heart or to be anything but supportive of each other and is looking forward to next week’s game in St. Jacobs.
